Hi all,
I'm hoping somebody could help me out.
As the thread title states, I'm looking for pictures of WWII US soldiers wearing German headgear. Specifically the winter fur cap, but any head gear would do to show how the German insignia was removed and what was put in its place.
I realise I'm probably looking for something scarce, but we all know what scavengers soldiers are - particularly when they're cold and wet.
I've already done a google but concede I may not have nailed the key word.
TIA
Rudi

Hi Rudi, I know it doesn't help, but I've got a pic or two of Brits wearing german helmets in Afrika after a battle. If that helps I'll scan 'em for ya.

Just came across this pic from Life magazine showing Lt. John Ernser wearing a fur cap during a debrief in Italy. Will check the cap against sources when home.

That is a great picture! There is so much character showing in that GI's face. Wonder where he is now? Do you ever wonder about that when you look at their pictures?

Pat: LOL! That's just begging for a vignette isn't it?
Glenn: Wow! That's awesome! You must have read my mind - I was just wondering last night if a M1 helmet could fit over a fur cap. Clearly it does - sort of
Thanks guys, this is great stuff

Rudi ....... glad you like him I can't believe I found this only after a few min. of searching.
The helmut maybe fits without the liner ?
Sculpters take note .......... the piece of thong tied where a missing button was .......... he appears to be wearing a non military belt with bullit holders ......... kinda wild west type .......... at least I've never seen this before , .......... his pockets loaded to the hilt with all kinds of crap ......... the stretched clothing over the many layers of sweaters etc. ........... and the last thing that always bugs me on figures ......... depth in the cuffs and sleaves at the wrists.
Good luck Rudi
