Hi,
Does anyone know where I can find detailed reference on WW2 American Style Gas and Water Jerricans?
I'm specifically looking for info on the number of threads on the gas can cap (lid/cover), and what color the interior was painted in. I've scoured the internet and still couldn't find this particular info.
Cheers,
Sonny
p.s. errr...yes its for a model, but no, not for a 1/35 scale jerrican

Hi Sonny
I have read good things about this book:
http://www.amazon.com/JERRYCAN-Years-Old-Still-French/dp/2840482444/ref=wl_it_dp?ie=UTF8&coliid=I3E25P7DZ73NMS&colid=BG2XML202QTG
Here is a review:

There are at least two editions, one in French and one bilingual. I do not own a copy but it is near the top of my acquisition list.

Thanks Doug, it looks like an awesome book. The amazon link you posted lists the french edition, I wonder if the bilingual edition is hard to find?
Are you a jerrycan enthusiast by any chance?

Hi Sonny,
I think the book I linked to is the bilingual version, and it appears to be readily available. I would not necessarily buy it from Amazon--the linked page just happened to show a nice picture and the ISBN along with a brief summary of the contents. I would recommend using www.bookfinder.com to find the best deal. Also, I doubt the book will provide information on cap thread counts. Collectors of militaria may have such detailed information.
I would not (yet) classify myself as a jerrycan enthusiast but as the years roll by I find myself exploring more and more obscure subjects associated with the hobby. I also find myself starting to collect bits and pieces of the real thing.
Good luck with your search!
