Aloha everyone!!
Was just wondering if anyone had any information on the Revell of Germany lastest release of the Fuchs in 1/35th scale. Is this just a re-release of their earlier offering? Does the kit include the option for building an up-armored version?
Thank you in advance!!
Kurt

You can look up the kit on the Revell-Germany site....including a full PDF of the instructions.
It is the TPz-1 Fuchs A6 ABC/NBC version.
It looks to me like a re-box of the old kit....same hull and tires and no add-on armour.
Having no add-on armour is actually correct for the NBC version....and images of the Fuchs NBC in Afghanistan show the vehicles without add-on armour.
It has new decal options for German vehicles in tan and three colour NATO in Afghanistan 2004/2005, tan in Kuwait 2003, camouflaged Nowegian 2005.
The markings for the tan Fuchs in Afghanistan appear to almost match the images of the German Fuchs on Howitzer.dk...same registration number and markings........the one very visible decal I see missing is the name "Kommando" on the front hull.
The tires should be the latest version with the new tread pattern....you can get them aftermarket.
It says there are ...."Optional parts to build a standard or an upgraded version".....but the only parts I see is the later version extended exhaust at the left rear of the hull.
Here is the link....

I hope that helps you out.

It's a bowser, plain and simple. It scales out well, but it is very soft on detail. The MG, the suspension, the hinge detail on the hatches...
Because the upper hull is cast as one piece, with detail on the sloping portions, that detail isn't as sharp as it should be simply so that the hull could be removed from the mold. There IS a Voyager PE set to replace those soft details, although save for the exhaust shroud you could replicate all of them yourself. (especially if you glom the tiny turret hinges form a Mk I Merkava)
My biggest disappointment was my own fault - the kit was not what I had expected. True, to build the US version I was ready to replace all of the pioneer tools, but the roof grill arrangement up front is not raised as on the prototype, the hatches are totally different from any of the variants supplied in the kit, and the no slip panels actually have borders scribed around them For me, that meant filling all of them in with CA. You're probably not intending to build the US version, but for anyone considering it, your biggest challenge is going to be replicating this:

If you use the Eduard PE set or the Voyager PE set and a new set of wheels....MR Models makes tires with the newest tread pattern....and they also make good external detail set....you can come out with a not half bad Fuchs....for the German version.
MR Models has had a U.S. M93A1 conversion listed for several years now but nothing has materialized.
My pet peeve with the Fuchs kits is the armoured shutters on the doors are moulded on in the closed position.
