Having purchased a couple of Nebelwerfers to do a dio I have come to paint the ammunition and can find no references. I did a google search that came up with a few thousand answers, looked at the first five hundred sites and have not found a single photo of the ammo. What i would like to know is what colour was the ammo and did it carry any markings/colour bands to distinguish the different types.
Many Thanks
Robbo.

Remearmr

This is the way Verlinden painted his for his Nebelwerfer dio in "the Verlinden way vol.1 At least this would give you an impression of the colour

I can`t say that much about the markings but maybe I will find something more on the internet

Field Rocket Equipment of the German Army ;T.J.Gander; Almark Publications: states colours were Dark Green or Grey with Identifying stencils in either white or black. For a tropical round see http://www.pzpflak.com/nbwfr/15/15.html
Do Not paint round with a series or green rings or green cross as these rounds were never used operationally (Chemical Rounds)

Great pictures, Thanks.
Alot of the pictures of this weapon seem to have the gunners dressed in winter clothing. Does this suggest it was primarily used on the Russian front?

I think part of the reason could be : Like most of the German Army the majority fought on the Eastern Front, At least in theory each SS Pz Division was supposed to have a a Werfer Abt. organic to the division.(1,2,3,5,9,10,&12 reported)
At least Two Wefer Regt. (83&84) were reportedly in Normandy in July 1944. And for the Bulge one book gives 8 werfer brigades reported.
