Firstly, every image we're sent from a manufacturer or publisher, requires resizing and sometimes a bit of cleaning-up to provide the site with the best possible image. So, simply put, we're NOT doing the work of other Sites.
Secondly, there are sites out their who will use any image from any other site without permission. Adding a Watermark tends to put them off.
Thirdly, when we run a news report on New books and have sample images, it isn't our job to provide easily-copiable reference photos. The publisher would (correctly) prefer that people go out and BUY their book.
Some of the images published here DON'T get published on any other sites, therefore in the interests of respecting the Manufacturers, we watermark them to ensure that they stay where they are supposed to.
Finally, after I spend (sometimes a couple of hours editing & resizing images, i'm doing it for THIS site - i'm not doing anyone's elses work for them. That's why I Watermark
