A definite workbench photo - I forgot to blow off some shavings. The figures are some Tamiya I had started an earlier time and will repaint/fix. Still going to add a 50 cal. and tools and place the scene in a riverbed (Sherman with scouts sneaking around to the German's rear flank. Inspired by the "Commanding the Red Army Shermans" book). All suggestions welcome.

I didn't realize it was quarter scale until I read the bottom line.

Very good job! Funny, you don't see that many Shermans here on the Soviet forum, hihi

For now, this very good work you have done especially with fotoeched and aluminum barrel.

Thanks a lot for the international replies! I'm shooting to finish it before June. I'll post again when done. Greg

If I remember correctly the author of the "Commanding the Shermans of the Red Army" complained of having the .50 Cals being missing from their 76mm Shermans. The model looks great, I'm looking forward to seeing the completed diorama.

http://www.o5m6.de/m4a2_76mm.html ( cool "duck bills on the tracks though that would be seriosly ladyy scratchbuilding. Especialy in 148 scale. I built some german armour a long time ago. u need tweezers for every thing. )

Hi guys. The Author of the book actually describes fairly frequent German aircraft attacks where they use the MG's to fight them off. I was surprised by this as I thought the Russians had air superiority throughout the end of the war. Also, he says their tanks were Rubber shoed and not as noisy as the T-34, but I thought the steel T-49 tracks were more popular.

1/48 does make aftermarket duckbill track versions now but it wasn't the look I wanted. That red engines website is my favorite and it's helped to roughly follow.

Cheers, Greg

Looks nice! You might want to remove the engine bay door supports on the rear hull. They were only on the M4A3 s.

Will this be a dio?

Hi Chris. Thanks for that tip; that's easy whittling. The engines of the red army website shows it as you pointed out too but I didn't notice before. This will be just a small dio set in a moist riverbed. Addios amigo

The Vallejo OD is pretty funky. I added some darker OD over the light and will try to follow the Mig video from here on out :oP

I've narrowed it down to a small circular base, and will have the tank driving down into the small stream. Clay is drying now. I added Archer decals.

I like it and that nice grass to the right in the last Pic.

So who makes that?

Or something custom you made up?

Thanks Jeff for the comment. The grass is by Silfor and can get it here in the US at scenicexpress.com You can cut or tear the sheets apart to make ground cover. I've used it in two of my other builds too - check my 'photos' tab. HTH
