Alpine has an ACU-clad Modern AFV Crewmen set. They are really nice. I reviewed them here.
Hobby Fan has a line of ACU-clad soldier sets called Stryker Crew 1-5 (I think). They can be used as any modern, ACU-clad soldiers though, not just with Strykers.
Verlinden has a couple too, but I wouldn't rate them as the best out there. As always, Verlinden's are mix of old and new items.
Warriors and Verlinden have insergent sets too.

Dragon released a really good set of modern US marines.
They have excellent detail and as well as giving you the four weapons (one for each soldier) and an ammo belt for the MG, they give you an extra sheet of around 10 extra weapons,, Mg's LMG, LSW's and assault rifles of NATO and Soviet make
Or there is the Dragon U.S. Marines Firefight Team
I have both of these kits, havent bult them yet but both are excellent quality, im a bit of a dragon 1/35 modern infantry fan boy, have only made dragon figures and love em

The Marine FireTeam set above is not modern. It depicts late '80s to early '90s Marines. Most of the gear and uniforms are no longer used.
Additionally, the Dragon Modern Marines set above is modern from about 2003. They are wearing IBA body armor and DCU uniforms.
It depends how modern you want to make them as to which type of uniform to use. Around '03, the USMC was switching to the MARPAT uniform. BY '05, they had completed the switch and were no longer wearing DCUs. In late '06, the Army started phasing in the ACU. By mid-'07, it was pretty much worn exclusively. Afetr APR 30 '08, the ACU is the only authorized uniform for the US Army.
There are no current Army or Marine ACU or MARPAT figures in plastic. They are only available in resin as I posted above.

'Modern' is a bit misleading for that set, it depicts 1980s gear, and the figures are terribly out of proportion. They have funny skinny legs.

We have been down this route before about modern plastic figures. Dragon would seemed to have stopped manufacturing any modern figures. Trumpeters latest figures are not bad in plastic for £6.00. If its modern, modern your after resin is the best i would have a look at the figures from. Mig, Blast, Alpine all are excellent.

When are you looking to have the figure represent? Dragon has the older MOPP suit on its "Big Red One",1 ID, figures from ODS. Blast and a few others have modern JSLIST suits on a few resin figures as well.

Hello
In plastic for OIF US forces you have Dragon (USMC early years) and Trumpeter's "US Army 2005 ".
I have both sets and must says that Dragon figures aren't the same quality as their later WW2 sets . The boots are poor and need to be replace for example (sadly none resin company sells a good set of boots to improve plastic figures). The hands are too crude.
The Trumpeter's figures are better but the heads/helmets aren't great and the flak jacket are in vinyl. Trumpeter give a great M16 A4 but only one in its set.
The good news is that Trumpeter annonced a set of late war figures that looks very good (their helicopters crewmen are very nice, the boots are far better than Dragon's).
anyway, with a nice paint job nearly every figures could be nice.

You would need JSLIST suits then, not the older MOPP suits. Blast does a few figures in JSLIST suits. They still call them MOPP suits though. They are listed as US Marines in MOPP Suits, but will work as Army troopers too.
JSLIST suits look like this.
The biggest changes are the integrated hood (as opposed to a separate hood attached to the mask on MOPP suits), velcro enclosures at the wrist and ankles (as opposed to elastic on MOPP suits), and the addition of pockets on the upper arms.
In plastic, two of the figures in the Trumpeter US 101st Airborne Crew figure set (#410) have JSLIST suits on. They are the standing guy w/his arm extended and the guy laying down. Also, the Trumpeter US Marine Corps Iraq 2003 set has one guy with JSLIST bottoms on. He is the guy in wearing a T-shirt.

Hi Gino, Didn't Trumpeter do the Us army in Iraq 2005? The set has got the soldiers with Knee pads and the water packs on their backs. Can this set be used for modern?
Good to see you home safe as well.

Thanks for the welcome home.
Yes, the US Army in Iraq, 2005 set can be used for modern figures up to about 2007, when we switched to ACUs. There are no JSLIST (MOPP) clad figures in that set though.
The Trumpeter CH-47D crew also has two nice modern Soldiers in it. One is a wounded Soldier being carried to the helo by another Soldier.

Gino's statement is not quite accurate, but for the purposes of your project, correct enough.
DCU's are still worn by some Army units if their use makes sense in the terrain in which they're worn.
Mutli Cam is also worn, although we must purchase them ourselves.
We also had BDU's, for when they were appropriate, although the Multi Cam pretty much did the same thing.
We even still brought the old chocolate chips with us. They're useful when you don't want to be singled out from a distance, as the IA mainly wear them. However, they themselves have an interesting mix of DCU, BDU, and ACU as well.

I will clarify it with Regular Army then. Spec Ops wears whatever they want/whatever is appropriate for the mission.

This is too confusing, I will stay with Gino, my brother spoke of a past experience in Afghan when they had a guy from the SAS dressed in acu and had a carbine with optics.

I bought the Tamiya US Modern Infantry to go with my M2A2 Bradley I am building. From reading this thread, I could have made a better choice. But, oh well, live and learn.

don't worry, I've got those and there not too bad, depends on if your trying to represent a particular year.
