I've never come across one Sir Kencelot! Maybe someone out there knows of an Eastern European manufacturer that might have produced one...

Heh heh - cute half-truck that is! Love those front wheels - such action!

I've built a couple of Eastern Express' models. They tend to be a little heavy in details - chunky is probably a good term - but I like them. The plastic is easy to work with. Engineering the assemblies to go together properly is the hardest part of these kits. Some filling and filing is necessary - more than a contemporary model manufacturer's products. But, when you get it all together - the fun begins. I buy 'em!

Remember, the russkies also used M3 halftracks...maybe M2's as well, all via lendlease.

yep the russians used the U.S. army halftracks.. for use during WWII and after then Half-tracks kinda faded away and dropped from most army's with the exceptions mainly being WWII surpluss sold to developing nations and the third world........

Correct you are gentlemen, with the M2 & M3s, but I was looking for (and found) a Russian produced halftrack.

During WWII, the only russian halftracks were ZIS-42. ZIS-5 with its rear axle replaced.
But in the mid 50's they used BTR-152, which is clearly an offspring between SdKfz 251 and M3 but wheeled! (6x4 or 6x6)
BTR-152 are quite interesting for middle-east wars; they had a lot and were used by both side (67, 73, 82...)
So if you are interested inthe"halftrack shape", the ukrainian firm "Skif" displays 3 versions; BTR-152D standard APC w/ open roof, BTR-152E w/ closed roof for ambulance or command, BTR-152 w/ deuce 14.7mm AA.
They all need a lot of patience to reach an acceptable level o faccuracy

No matter which box you see it in... this model is always, the old Fort Zis.

My father built this kit... he "lovingly" calls it the "Zit"...

Let's just say that this kit is only marginally better than the Zvedza T-60...

Later,
Tim

Eastern Express is a VERY GOOD MODEL MAKER!!!
They give you the right basis, and you have to work around it....
Hours & hours of modelers fun to try make pieces to mach, to face each other...
Hours & hours to train you with putty...
Hours & hours of reading to find all the details that ain't figured....
Hours & hours to try to understand the correct location of that ...rectangular piece that looks like... a rectangular piece...
Hours & hours to learn russian alphabet to try to undertand the different version written on that sheet....

Hye Fred !
Do you have pictures of the BTR152 ? I'm very interested by the vehicle... i'm thinking of making a syrian vehicle captured by the israely troops, but I'm not sure yet. i'll certainly have a lot of "fun" with the model.

Other companies that can give you even more fun : SKIF, and the bast of all, AER !!!!

My local shop carries the Fort Zis-42 half-track for $10, no wonder it still sits there!
