Hi Gang,
I`ve developed a fascination for all things "Gavin" at the moment (sorry if i`ve offended anyone who loves the M113,i do too,but it always bring a wry smile to my face to hear them called that ).
I`m currently up to 17 at the moment in my stash, but what i was wondering is was there an early version of the YPR that looked like the KIFV as i`d like to do a Dutch ambulance version without the gun turret using Academy`s KIFV as the base kit.I`ve looked on Prime Portal`s site and done some "Googleing" but there are`nt many pictures of these beasties taken from above.
Any help of info would be gratefully appreciated.

Make a qucik comparison between both vehicles through the various pics available at Prime Portal and you'll see that some differences are quite obvious not to speak about the height.
As Marcel told, the best starting point is AFV Club YPR kit.
I don't want to flame things up but who could tell me why "Gavin "makes anybody so touchy !

Hi Marcel,
thanks for the explanation. To me it, the M113 was nicknamed Bucket but obviously this could not be an official name.
It reminds me of the first nickname of the FAMAS rifle which was Clairon (Bugle) due to its shape. Don't know who can guess a bugle shape in it but that's it. The French press used this name quite long while noone in the Army has ever named it this way !

Here's the pictures I took last time a similar question came up.
From the left (in the first picture) is a VCC-1, YPR-765, KIFV and sloppy attempt to modify a KIFV deck into a YPR. Then the YPR kit came out and I could see that the back of the hull is different which killed the whole idea.
We just called the M113 a 'track'.

The M113 was developed when big numbers seemed more cool than dead generals. Along with the MBT70, M88, M548, M578, etc. the powers that be were happy with numbers. Today, the now use names almost immediately even if the vehicle dies in development (Sgt. York, Stringray, Crusader).

Paul, interesting shot with all the hull tops.
Where did you get the Camillino kit ? I was not aware of one kit for this AIFV.

The Criel conversion is neat but a bit tough to work with. Instructions are not much but on par with most resin conversions.
Essentially cut the sides off any M113 hull and mate to the resin top hull. Fit is not exact. I would have liked to see this molded without the side skirts. But a neat subject overall and a welcome conversion.
Pictures from A'stan show a different EAAK (similar to NZ M113) than what was used in Kosovo (similar to Swiss M113 Schutzenpanzer) .
I've got an old Military Modelling (1983) with scale drawings of the VCC-2. Should be a fairly easy conversion with a spare TC cupola.

Thank you for the quick come back.
This will be my first resin conversiuoin, so it will be a bit of a switch.Ounce I get going I will see about getting some shots out there.
Do any of you fine folks out there have a suggestion as to witch 113 kit would make a good doner for this under tacking?
At the moment I do have aTamy.old type that is still some what intact,I supose that would be as good a starting point as any.
Thanks againe have a fine week y'all

OK.Now that I've got this bug going,I have been trying to find info about the VCC-1, I have taken a look at prime portal as well as a couple other places. But there dosn't seem to be much that I can find about this subject. How about some other place with some links to this rig?

Just have a look at my site. There is a walkaround of the VCC-1 with the add-on armor as deployed to Lebanon.
Paul and Marcel, thanks for the answer about the resin conversion !

Fantastic. Is that from a recent deployment?

Yes Paul, it was in Spring 2008. They weren't often used though. The Italians rarely patrolled with their tracked vehicles so I was a bit lucky to get these pictures. The good thing (for a modeler) was the frequent use of Centauros that allowed a large walkaround with all my gratitude to the Savoia Cavalleria Regiment !
