So, I screwed up on the Maxson turret for my M16. Its my fault, I just built it poorly. Fortunately I was able to just buy the DML M55 and it gives me a nice "do over" opportunity. I'm just curious if other folks have messed up a major portion of a model bad enough that they've had to go for a "do over."

fraid so i was updating my Deuce and half (tam) with the verlinden set (still on going ) when one of my cats got into my room and trashed the resin struts for the MG cupola so i had to rebuild them from brass tubing, much stronger but boy was it a pain in the a$$ to cut and file to the right length. One more reason not to have cats. I hate them.

Lately I got the rear light guards of my M1A1 mixed up. Only noticed the mix up after painting, prying them off and sanding them to fit better... Oh well, they're a bit shorter now...
Hey, no problem with cats, just keep them out of your cave! Keeps the hair off you paint job as well...

Tried to do my own zimmerit on a Panther A. Got a new one. Messed up the paint and I am currently botching the tracks. Don't know if I am going to go for #3.

Tried to 'force dry' a wash on a near finished T-34/85 with a 100W light. Took my attention off of it for just a few seconds.........

sure, you're definitely not alone there. I painted my m4a376w and found out that the paint had gone all grainy, due to paint drying before it hit the model. Managed to rescue it by using sanding sponges and repainting, but after all that work building it I was pretty

Its nice to see that we aren't alone, I'm lucky I guess in that my fix is relatively cheap (versus buying a whole new kit and starting over.) Of course I have had that happen as well, I am slowly working (emphasis on slowly) on my second 1/96th scale USS Constitution, thats a big one to mess up.

I have botchd a few things a long time ago and ended up trshing out kits and just buying newones. Since I have discovered plasistruct and Evergreen, I just make replacement pasrts. Luckily now days my biggest hassle is with brass stuff. If I mess that up, I just use the original plastic or stretched sprue.

Been there guys......recently applied zimmerit to a KT with Tamiya's Polyester putty and forgot to mix it with the "drying substance" before applying........zimmerit never dried...
The fix came after a few weeks of despair.....some peroxide over it and voila!!!!!
You can check the results on the Mighty 88 campaign
