What tracks are you going with Felix, the kit or AM links? I tried the Hobby Boss links as they were cheap. A bit fiddly with the small narrow links, but not too bad can get a nice sag anyway.

If you're going to all that trouble to improve your Cromwell, then you should also add the correct engine deck. Tamiya based their model on the Cromwell at Bovington, which never received the upgraded Type D engine deck which was mounted on virtually all Cromwells before they went into combat in 1944. It had a more sensible arrangement of access panels for the engine and radiators. The kit depicts the original Type C hull. Accurate Armour in the UK sells a resin replacement part. You might also consider the later all round vision cupola, which was added to many Cromwells before the Normandy landings (the original cupola, as shown in the kit, had only two periscopes facing front and aft).

nice start

little tip for you. i always hollow out the end of any machine gun, a little detail that makes a big difference.

i do this using the tip of a brand new 10A scalpel blade. post more pix soon and let us know what you're going to do with the cupola and engine deck

Here I leave with you more progress on this tank. He finished the barge and I put the grills on the engine. I have printed in gray. and you're ready to paint. Likewise, I have begun with the turret and the cannon is now mounted in Aber and I felt great. I have also pierced the guns, to try to make them more real. Photos:

Looks good, felix. A very nice build so far. The fading of the base coat seems very light to me, but that might be because of the flash. Anyway, a few washes will probably tone it down.

Looking forward to see more.

Well Cromwel more photos. I have placed the decals, one of them broke and I had to improvise, painting in white was not good but not bad. Then I painted in bright, waiting to start treating oil, a model for aging.

Here are the photos of treatment with oil paintings. The truth is that for the fat of the painting does not have an unusual layout I decided to put 24 hours into an absorbent kitchen paper and you will see that it is even better. You will observe the surrounding fat. Then just what is the pigment of the paint treatment on the tank is better. Photos:

Hi felix,

Coming along really well. The tracks should sit on the centre 3 road wheels only as the rode above the other two. There are a great set fo references on Toadmans here:

http://www.toadmanstankpictures.com/cromwell.htm

Keep up the great work the Tamiya Cromwell is a grand kit and fun to build.

That's looking really good. Just one point - WW2 fire extinguishers were olive green, not red.
