Are we going to have another content contest like we did last summer? That was a lot of fun and brought some valuable articles into our site. I got a lot of e-mail about my HMMWV article last year. Someone even asked if they could post it to their own site.
Just a thought, the reason why I used the term drive/contest was that last year it was a contest with prizes, but that doesn't mean that it has to be a contest with prizes this year. May be just a contributer's ribbon for Content Drive 2003 instead.

Rob, I agree that the content drive last year was great for the site but I'm sure Jim will be hesitant to offer prizes again based on problems he had in getting prizes that were offered at the start of the contest last year. I think it would be great if we could offer prizes but just not sure if it would be workable. A ribbon sounds great too.

For me it's not that important to have a prize. I'll be very proud to be chosen to have an article published on the site and/or have a ribbon too.

Call it a Content Campaign
Agreed, prizes aren't my motivation to submit content.

I agree. No prizes are needed. I just find it enjoyable to see the site grow and to have a couple of small article's published on here.

Content Campaign - I like that!
I think a Ribbon would be great too! I agree, the whole prize episode last year probably made this year's Content Drive less than appealing...

The ribbon could be some type of feather pen on a Armorama "O" sight or something like that - or a spin off on a real ribbon from the media corps....

I clearly recall the prize fiasco, hence the "drive" and "contest" wording. I also thought that the ribbon would be enough of a motivator to get some of the users to participate.
I want the members of the site not to be shy about submitting an article. The one I did was the first real article I ever wrote for a site besides a quick look review.
I for one would like to see some of our junior members do build articles on the kits that we built straight out of box 30+ years ago. Let's see how today's pre-teen tackles those kits that we had so much fun with.
BTW, I had no problems getting my prize (thanks Gunnie!), and it was even a nicer prize than I thought I was getting (got a new Tamiya Tiger and I thought I was getting a Shep Paine book).

I rather have some money invested in Armorama than in winning a prize and spend it on shipping cost.
Campaign or contest : I'm in.

I wasn't around for the content thingy last year. How does it work? Personally, I have no experience submitting anything, but I would be willing to give it a shot.

I'm in the same boat as Patrick. I hit the "Submitting Content" link and there is not much there. What format should the article be in? Who gets it? Anything okay, reviews, how to's etc? I'll give it a whirl in any case.

I don't remember all the rules but I think there was a word count limit (minimum) and there were various categories like armor, aircraft, sci-fi, ships, figures. A paragraph on a kit review isn't enough, but a build reveiw with photos and the like were OK.
My article I did last year was the Much Maligned Italeri HMMWVs and was a review of about a dozen similar kits.

Hi all;
i totally agree that a prize isn´t important, and I´ll try to make some stuff for this campaign.
Last contest I won a book (Tank), but the ribbon gonna be used with proud along with my avatar...
I´d like to let you all know that we gonna make a model photo contest on portuguese area of Armorama, but it will be open to all AA Members, so stay tunned! We´re thinking about giving some medals for the winners (I didn´t talk to Jim yet, so it´s a big news)
Cheers

Sorry for my lack of input so far on this. Busy at work and with the new dedicated server setup. I think this is a great idea! I was thinking about this last week as well and the concept of just doing it for a medal or some other easily delivered on prize (a shirt or logoware item maybe) would be a lot easier for me to handle. And did someone mention last years Shep Paine books? Ugg... (eyeing a stack of books in airmail containers on the cornner of his desk) ...I finally got these books delivered to Shep and then sent to me for delivery to the winners. I sent out emails to the winners asking if their shipping addresses are the same as from 9 months ago, but I haven't heard from everyone yet. I guess I will send them out anyway and hope for the best. That will be one long saga I will be glad to put behind me.
Cheers,
Jim

I've got an article ready to go but the link to the content email seems to be broken. My email bounced. Can I send it straight to Jim?

AKKK....your kidding me? I will fix it right now if it's broken. That really hurts though.
Thanks for letting me know.

I'd like to submit an article meself, on my Cold War campaign entry, if that's ok. I already even got a working draft.
Maybe one way to increase content is to have those who participated in the campaigns to make an article on their campaign entries.

I'm in too with my Cold War Cook-off Campaign entry.
Ciao
P.S.: just a question how do we deliver the articles and which is the preferred format (word, html, ecc)?
