In the latest Osprey book, "Special Operations Forces in Iraq", there is an artists impression of a SF Humvee with a three man crew. They are all wearing helicopter crew type helmets can anyone enlighten me about these. Are there any figures in 1/35 scale available with this type of head gear.

What about Trumpeter's set # 415 - "1/35 U.S. Army CH-47D Infantry Crew and Infantry"

There are lots of 1/35 figures w/aircrew helmets on. Check here.

You can add any of these heads to a regular figure to make your SF troopers.

The Trumpeter ones are some of the worst shaped ones of teh lot though. They just don't look right. The Dragon ones are good.

The helmets he is refering to are more reminiscent of the old Nam era ones, that tankers used. Alas, the name of these modern helmets escape me...

I believe it called a CVC. Although our MICH, and the later ACH were designed for the Peltors with the bone mike at the top of your dome, they were very uncomfortable with the Peltor setup. I wore the CVC exactly twice before going to the system in most of my pics, which was the combination earphone/bone mike inserted in to ear. The CVC jack was incompatible with our coms, and was too heavy, and as we didn't generally wear helmets anyway, so it got tossed. FYI, the bone mikes we wear now are form fitted to our individual ear with a two part epoxy, and also serve as hearing protection.
