Can you use watercolors for a wash? And how well do they work?

Hi Steve, I used to use watercolours for washes on plaster buildings in dios, especially on the lower areas and round drainpipes to simulate damp. I tried them for using as a wash on plastic kits but didn't have much success as they didn't really show on dark colours. I probably didn't try enough as it was easier to get results using enamels.

Thanks, I have quite a few tubes and was just looking for a use for them. Besides actually painting on paper.

I use watercolors for washes all of the time. Color intensity is relative, I really like them.

I experimented with watercolours a little while ago with an AT gun I was making. You can see what I thought of them in the third post of this thread: 47mm AT gun.

I've used watercolours in the past. I find they give a very subtle effect. I sometimes use them as a wash for plaster or drywall in structures.
