Hey guys, that's the PLS (Palletized Load System). There are "flat beds" (and I believe other things) that are loaded with supplies. The PLS will back up to the flat bed, hook it, and then pull it up on the "bed." Quick "snatch, haul, drop" system.

And as Jim pointed out, the one "bug gut" does make for an interesting conversation.

I remember when they brought the chassis out to Speedway for the new powerpac. Seems like there might have been two, but one for sure. They messed with it for almost a year. But then one day we go out back and the bed is extended way up in the air! Told the boss we needed one of them! We also did a series of smaller ones that I think went to Japan.

Yup, M1075 PLS, made by OshKosh. We used the up-armored version in Iraq. They carry the load on what's called a "flat rack", I forget the M- numbers, but M3 is one type. Also, they can handle 20ft. connex with an attachment called a CHU, or container handling unit, essentially an adaptor for the connex. When a CHU is used, it is used without a flat rack. But, connexs can be hauled on certain flat racks that are equipped with pineapples, or container locks. Clear as mud, right?
