Hi there
That is very tastefully done and gives a look of disaster but without the blood and gore.
They are still gonners though
Like the way you get the feeling of earth chucked up with movement of the bits flying out.

The idea is great and it really captured my attention. I like this kind of approach too, I man can't live only with the traditional assembly/primer/paint-job/future/oil-wash/flat-coat/pigment-dusting style
In my opinion, the level of realism could be improved with the use of material more adequate to this scale. The figures could have been painted in a more accurate color. The canvas top could have been done with tissue-paper painted with white-glue, for example, and the flames could have been done more like this:

I have seen a similar diorama in the past but unfortunately I didn't save the photo. I believe it was from an Asian modeler and he also used an Opel Blitz but it wasn't so spectacular. I hope to come across that diorama again one of these days, it has been on my minds eye for I while.
