Hello Everyone,
Was hoping some of you can give me some feedback on the Acadamy Tiger kit #1386 (early kit with no interior). Is it accurate? How's the fit? Would Tamiya tracks from the mid version be accurate to use? Any information you can give would be greatly appreciated.
Regards,
Joe

The only info I have may be of little use to you. Someone had the Academy mid-production kit with interior but wanted an accurate kit. I traded a Tamiya late production kit to him for it. I guess the Tamiya was more accurate in his eyes but in my mind it didn't bother me.

Hi pal!
This kit is a great kit, accurate and a good price (specially if you compare to Tamiya similar).
You also have the option to use the link by link made for this kit by Academy.
The mid version tracks aren't good to use in this model, while not impossible I didn't bet to see an early model with mid tracks, but it's common to see mid version tanks using early version tracks...confusion?
Go ahead and I'm sure you gonna make a big deal.
Cheers

While I am certainly no Jentz, I have eight different Tigers, Sturmtigers, Jagdtigers, etc.... I think the Academy is certainly equal to any one kit on the market in terms of fit, plastic, detail, etc... I think in general that Academy has really stepped their efforts up. Look at the Stuart, their Hornet, the M-18, and this kit as examples of this...

Tamiya kits are nice, the Initial and Tunisian kits are probably the most accurate you can get, but for almost $50 you get missing Photo Etch, rubber band tracks, and no interior.

The Academy kit is almost as good as the Tamiya kits in term of fit and accuracy, and the full version has a complete interior, 88 rounds, and individual link tracks in addition to the rubber band ones. The real Tiger experts have some problems with the kit and the interior, but the same goes for any Tiger on the market.

Build it and enjoy. Have you seen the one that is super super detailed by Mr Lloyd? WOW!

I started this kit a few years ago and found nothing really fit that well...nothing that can't be fixed but a pain where the sun never shines...The kit is not up to the Tamiya standard but when all is well and done it does look almost the same ..Some of the small details are not as nice as the Tamiya kit ..ie : the bosche head lights are wierd..But as others say you get the individual tracks and the P/E in the box for less than the Tamiya kit...I don't mind spending a bit more for the tamiya kit just for the ease of assembly.(and I know I'm going to splurge for new Friul tracks and Aber set anyways) Have fun with your project!!

Sabot, ArmouredSprue, didimus, thebear,
Thanks to each one of you for taking time to help me with my questions. It was very helpful.
Yes, didimus, I saw the model you reffered to. Looks like it had more detail than the real thing. Best of luck to all of you.
Regards,
Joe
