Don,
This transfer set you have is a slight misnomer, as these insignia were also used on Camo gear by the regular army (Wehrmacht/Heer). The moulded on stripes on Andrews figures are the sewn on strips on late smocks for the attachment of foliage, as seen in Alan's photo above the rank insignia (incidentally I suspect this photo is a reconstruction, the smock is not nearly baggy enough, & appears to have shoulder seams, which would not be present on an original issue smock). They were also sewn on the chest and back of the smock. There are clear photos & newsreel taken in Normandy showing officers such as Kurt Meyer, Max Wunsche, SS Sturmbannfuhrer Waldmuller etc from SS HJ wearing these insignia on camo ("pea" & Italian pattern) uniforms. Please note that the stripes and oakleaves on the special insignia for camoflauged uniforms would not stand proud on a 1/35th scale figure, as they were screen printed onto cloth, not embroidered. The Alpine figures are misleading in this respect.
