I am ready to attempt my first sculpt. I want to do 1/35 scale figure(s) then cast them in resin. What do I need to get started?

Where to start? You mean in terms of how do you start sculpting a figure? Or how to get figures cast? I'm guessing both?
Have a look through Historicus Forma's Sculpting forum for starters, there are plenty of gems there. But basically to start sculpting a figure you'll need an armature (you can buy one or make your own), putty and patience. Quite a few sculptors (especially when starting out) will use aftermarket heads, hands and shoes/boots, as well as equipment from existing figures.
If you've never sculpted before you may want to consider trying a few figure conversions before attempting a full figure sculpt.

Rob good luck. There is nothing as rewarding as doing afigure completely on your own.
