Hi
Why does member 'montythefirst' have over 5 pages of posts in the introductions forum, all saying "hi and welcome", and a great many of them in response to old and outdated threads? It's sure gummed up the 'recent posts' section and a bit excessive methinks?
I'm just sayin'
Bob

He almost doubled his post-count in one night... I've managed to do it only the second day of my presence here (from 5 to 10.... ). Man, I wouldn't be patient enough to do it...

We haven't seen this for a while, but he's probably 'Posting for Rank' which is a little sad and pathetic.
Worst thing with this kind of ridiculous action is that all it does is upset the balance on the site - new (legitimate) postings get pushed off the front page and people lose potential interesting threads. It also causes additional and unnecessary work to the Moderators which they DON'T need.

Hi
He must have a job as a speed writer because he's got at least 5 sometimes 6 posts in a minute. that's some posting.

Open several threads in different windows, than ctrl+C, ctrl+V and done... I just don't see the point...
If the guy is posting for rank as Jim suggested than I don't understand it. I always thought that it is a fun way to show how the person is involved in forum community, but I've never thought that it may be a someone's goal...

While there are no site rules on this we do rely on members common sense. As Jim says all this does is push topical posts off the page. The time to welcome new members is when they join the site.
I've written to montythefirst and this won't happen again.
Incidentally AFAIK posts in the intro forum don't count towards your rank.

I've just checked it and man that guy must have way to much time on his hands!
I dont see the point of that ! does he think he's going to get noticed with all the posts he's doing ?
Great idea! ............

I noticed all the new member postings last night, and thought for a minute that we had a flood of new members all coming in at once.
Clued in pretty fast and figured someone was trying to boost their post count. Messed up the new post page for a while which was annoying but we've seen worse...

just drop the post count counter and the 'rank' and that will solve it

There are ranks? How does that work, then?

Shaun go to modify your profile and about half way down it says select rank or something and pick the one you prefer.

Oh, I see. Well, as it doesn't go up as far as "demigod", perhaps I'll stick to civilian...
