Hello All,

I am new to the board and new to building armor. I have built 1/24 scale automobiles previously but now I want to get into armor. I have a few 1/35 scale kits (Tamiya Quad Gun Tractor, Trumpeter Faun Tank Transporter, Tamiya M1046 Humvee w/Tow, Tamiya Challenger 2 and a Dragon Bergepanzer(which is up for sale)). I would like some help/input on one piece in particular. I am starting on the Faun and want to also build an MLRS to put on it. I really wanted the DML-3522X (which is the MARS version I understand) but I cannot find that kit anywhere. What would be an acceptable compromise? Would the 3522 do? Does anyone know the differences between the two kits? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Frenchy

Maybe you'll spot the visible differences

Thanks for the info. I have seen the 3522, but supposedly there was a 3522X which was the MARS version. I might have to just get the 3522 and look for an update. Thanks again.

In fact you're indeed right about kit #3522X, it had been released by Shangai Dragon, but not in Europe :
http://www.dragon-models.com/html/sdragon03.html
The same kit (I think..) had been reboxed by Revell (kit #03032) and you can find it here :
http://www.models2u.co.uk/Shop/enter.html?lang=en-uk&target=d479.html
Eduard has released 3 PE sets for this kit : #35730 MARS Exterior, #35744 MARS Interior, #35745 MARS Walkways. You can download their instruction sheets from Eduard's website :
HERE

You'll find more MARS walkaround pics on Maquetland.com :

The Revell rebox is a better kit. It has additional sprues with German-specific parts. The Dragon NATO MLRS is the same as the US version with a few decals for some NATO users and without the separate M26 rocket pods.
