M59 Long Tom tires/wheels?

Both tire sets from Masters Productions are well worth the money. The set without the Limber must have been produced earlier as the tires are less detailed with plain sidewalls but with well done wheel centers and tread. In the set with the Limber the tire castings are more crisp with a bit more side wall detail. But again both are good and with do a nice job!

So are the wheels in the set with just them the same as in that with the dolly or are they different? Can't imagine the dolly would not be worth it if the kit part is incorrect for WW2 configuration.

Wow!! Actually, the original thread is from '09.
The wheels in both sets are the same pattern. As stated above by Micheal...

The limber is the same as the one in the kit, just a little more detailed. They are both correct for WWII. For the price, it is worth it. The wheels/tires are the only incorrect parts.

I agree with Gino, the Masters Productions tire and limber set are very nice, and will backdate the AFV club 155mm to WWII. The tire tread is a little plain, but otherwise works fine. My set has 6 lightening holes for each wheel. Just the tire set alone won't be enough to backdate though without the limber. I think AFV club must have used a Taiwanese (ROC) M59 for the pattern, which would have had the later post war limber. As for prime movers, now that Miniart has released the caterpillar tractors, these could also be used as prime movers depending on what time frame in WWII one is referring to. D8 tractors were the prime movers before WWII, and some units shipped off to N. Africa and Sicily with the D8 before the Mack NO or M4 HST were received, so that's another prime mover option. VR, Russ
