I noticed Tamiya German Field Officers, a five pack figure kit for sale. It looks like another newly tooled tribute to the original item as they have similar poses. Anyone know anything about these? Haven't been too impressed with "new" Tamiya figures so far...

Do you have a kit reference or picture? Not aware of any new Tamiya figures though.

News to me. I too would like a few photo's. I know that Tamiya "retooled" the Jadgtiger (SdKfz. 186 Fruhe Produktion) No.35295 and did a re-release of that kit.

The kit # is TM35298. It retails for 9 quid on modelsforsale.com which seems exhorbitant to me. It features one soldier kneeling with a phone akin to the old "German Observation Group" guy. Another is standing with a metal clipboard. One is holding a map and pointing. One dude is standing with an MP40, another is standing and appears to be cocking a luger.

Just like Tamiya's recent early war German Infantry Set (French Campaign) 35293 is an homage to their first figure set 35002, this set is similar to another early set of figures that Tamiya produced: 35010
The set was also released with the ancient Panzer III Ausf. M/N.
The guy kneeling in the new set does look like one of guys in the old German Observation Group Set: 35073
These new figs, while not as refined as what DML, MiniArt, Master Box, ICM, etc.... produce, look pretty good !!
I'll pick up a set just for nostalgia's sake.

Agreed, for that price I could buy 2 DML figure sets.

Not in the UK you couldn't.

Most figure sets for Dragon start at around £6.00 to £7.00 for the older basic sets, with the newer ones such as the recently released Hunting the Partisans going for around £12.00, the Gen 2 is usually around £10 upwards.

I'll admit the Tamiya set is on the high side of average for figures but not so as I'd describe it as "exorbitant" in my opinion. Also note you get, like some other figure makers, five figures not four as is in most sets from Dragon etc.
