Well, Gents...

I built this big girl in parallel to the A13 Cruiser ...

Sorry post this pictures only in the final, but I post all the stages...

Let´s go:
The real girl!!!

The players:

In my researchs, I noted all Crab´s photos show the tank with the front suspension "buried" on the floor because the weight of the thresher ...

Diagrams:

The effect of the weight:

So, lets transform the suspension of the old Dragon M4A4:

Surgery detail:

...and:

First and final bogies:

Making the middle bogie:

On your feet !!

More details: the Crab´s air intake are reversed:

But the M4A4 without Crab, are normal:

Fixin´my kit:

eheheheheheheheheheh

Building the turret:

and:

My Legend kit comes with several part twisted...Awful !!!

Surgery:

more scratch:

... and the quality of the resin was horrible, too:

No pain, no gain....

The big work is this: making the chains and the metal balls. I put aside the Legend material and used some parts of my wife bijoux little parts:

The chain is legend, but all the rest is "donate" for my girl !!!(thanks, Carmo...I love you !!!)

Making the thresher:

Hurrah !!!

Using weight for Crab´s balance, in the rear :

Primming:

Painting:

Ups and downs in colors;

using spare decals:

and:

The terribles old LBL Dragon´s tracks ( Hours and hours of work...)

Making rear deck´s cargo:

And my big girl JOAN finally ready to splashing mud and dust !

I hope you enjoy the final result. She was very pretty next to my other Funnies!

Hey Marcos,
Marvelous job on your Crab !!
I have the Legends set in my stash but have been reluctant to attempt it.
Did you shorten the lower hull of the kit to the correct length or did you just go with what was there ??
Cheers

Great model. I've never had any problem with Legend conversions so I hope that the one you have was a 'rogue' and not the standard nowadays.

I built the Resicast version several years ago and the flails took more time than the rest of the build!! The family learnt some new words too !!!

I am amazed at your ability to make so many of those incredibly detailed flails

Looks great. The suspension repair makes it that much more realistic.

I think I was drawn to a cripple kit ...

I have other kits of Legend smoothly at my shelf ...

But this was really bad...

The flails were a religious experience, a test of patience ... but not much worse than the old LBL tracks ...

But the important thing is that the end result pays off everything!

This is modeling ....

Marcos,
Very very nice work, and a great picture series on how you did your build. The reference photos are great. Do you have a side view shot of your finished model to show how the suspension looks all put together?
Thanks

Very nice finish, lovely subject.

Had the oppertunity to haul around a flail among other tanks at the Base Borden Museum in Ontario. That sob is frikin heavy! Snapped one of my 5/8 th's chains hauling it unto a flat bed, that was entertaining i tell ya! Had to check my shorts after that one.

I beleive that the air intakes were reversed to prevent any crap and corruption getting thrown around by the flail entering the engine.

cheers

Hi, Mike !!!

As in the Tarzan movies, I can only say:
"I hear and obey, Bwana ..."

ehehehehehehehehheheheeh

I love the looks-like of "weight" that the surgery in the bogies provided to the tank ...

Thanks !!!!

About the reversed air intakes, is my opinion, too ...

The amount of dirt built by flais in rotation should be a great thing!

Hey Marcos,
Dragon's first M4A4 kits, like the one you used in your conversion, had lower hulls that were a bit too long.
The hulls were about a scale 7 inches or 17.78 cm too long and needed to be trimmed back to the sump hatches on the bottom of the lower rear hull.
If not, you have to use 85 or 86 track links per side rather than the normal 83 used by the M4A4 Sherman V's.
Dragon corrected it when they released the latest Firefly Vc and hopefully did so in their new Orange Box M4A4 kit.
Not a big deal, it's not really noticeable unless you know about it.
It doesn't detract from the great job that you did on JOAN !!!
Cheers
