What do you put in the back of your 1-72 truck ? We're talking figures in the scale of 1-72, over the last few months I have brought a ton of plastic, and have figures running, standing, marching, dying, firing off all types of guns and weapons, where are the little blokes sitting down in the back of the truck ? In 1-35 jeep and tank crew never a problem, want a few soilders sitting in the back of a vehicle, none to be seen, why is this apart from there is no demand, I'm demanding them and I dare say so are many other people that work in 1-72, okay I've just finished 3 heavy trucks which are now in their final stage of painting, I have crates and general rubbish ear-marked for the back, then watching an old film, thought wouldn't it be great to have ten or more soilders sitting in the open back truck on the benches, and guess what, I can't find them anywhere, so as you do, I thought I'd have a moan. Look forward to your replies.

New you dont mention the nationality of your trucks, but this could do the trick

Try and snoop around in the site, thay have a lot of 1:72 figures from Preiser - not as sharp as resin - but much cheeper.
Cheers/Jan

Jan - that's a first class web-site there, they have just about everything you can imagine, and when building dioramas we can imagine quite a lot, sadly though, there is nothing with the exception of (would you believe it ?) 2 discontinued sets, no soliders (American/British) sitting down in 1-72, there are one or two in each pack, but for the amount I originally wanted it would cost a whole lot of money just to get those guys in a sitting position, I just wanted some in the back of an open back truck, the type of thing you'll see in films with the soliders being driven from place to place, oh well, there's always plan 'B'

Go rail road figures. I think HO or O is close enough that if you had 10 figures all together they would all look 'normal'.

Hello Scott and Patric, the best I can possibly buy in the 1-72 range are from Preiser, and sadly in the U.K these are from a company called www.ontracks.co.uk and I've had untold problems with buying stuff from these people in the past, and anything posted from the U.S seems to cost an arm and a leg, the figures I saw origionally were all German's sitting down and at rest perfect for my American heavy truck dio I was planning, I was simply going to paint them differently, then thought I'd never get away with it.

Sounds like a good excuse to give figure-sculpting a try, or at least some heavy figure modification
I've been using Magic Sculpt for a while and it works wonders. I've finished this 1/72nd figure recently:

Al , Roco has seated figs, to go in the back of trucks they are 1/87 scale but look ok in the back of a 1/72 vehicle and they are pretty cheap about 8 in a set.

Hey Al I searched the roco website and it seems the seated figs. are out of production, check with your local model railway shops or look for them on line, e-bay is another place to look. hope this helps.

Thank you John, in my short time building dioramas, I've reached the conclusion you'll be stuck for 1-72 British sailors, American seated personnel and differences between the scale 1-72 regarding figures in general, also very little on El Alamein phase 2 with British dioramas showing desert surfaces or the good old terror cotta, thank you for the advice.
