As i am putting together the 502nd pit stop i decided i wanted to raise the back of the dio and make it easier for the models at the back to be seen,So i came up with the idea of the hillack a small peace of raised land.Which would make the back of the display case easier seen.As this is the first time i have had to think about a model rather than just follow the instructions i found it had as i had to learn as well as build what i could see in my mind which is very hard for a guy lacking in experience and now how i might add lol.
So were to begin ummm card board and a base from the work shed i thought and went from there. As i was skint and had to use only what i had already in the house i was already pulling a short straw befor i started.

The steps are just snapped bits of plastic and a old steel gurder i had in the ods and sods box

I bent and folded the extra base card over and made what i was hoping would one day be a small steam ( i was hoping to god i might add)
The fence is nothing more than tooth picks and a cut up wooden stures from costers coffee. and the wight rocks are wold you believe cat littler lol. .

After time and the od coffee i started to see it come together and start to take shape with a great use of PVA glue a lot of swearing and cocking it up a lot lol.i was finaly on the road to seeing it getting there i thought.

Naily there still lots to do but more that happy for a first attempt at anything like this for me,Still lots of painting weathering and touching up to do.

With the use if a bit of grass and a small bust and tree here and there things were starting to look half decent .Still a long way of some of hte great work i have seen in here though i might add.

So still a bit to go with the weathering to be finished and stream to be sorted i am more than happy so far.

Ok so the weathering is done and the pigments added, a bit of touch up is still required only saw them bits when i took the photos and the water is added.

I stuck it in the place it will sit so the water has all the time in the world to set and go off,So please ignore every thing that is not on the hillack as that all still needs sorting out and the ground doing, still don't know what to do with it all though.
Eny feed back would be good as like i said this is my first attempt at any thing like this and i would love to know were i went wrong and any advice and tips would be great to help me get better.

Hi Andrew. For a first dio, it shows a lot of promise. It was quite an ambitious project with so many details and figures. The composition is good and the scene is clear.
The thing I like least is the grass mat used. Its perfect for a golf course but is not really suitable to cover contours and give a natural effect. A bag of static grass is what you need, and is probably much cheaper in the long run. Id also suggest replacing the clothes line support with branches, fixed into the ground. You did a good job with what you had I suppose.
The figures and weathering of the MiniArt shed are good. Keep it going ... Im sure you learnt a lot with this build ... so your next should be a killer!

Hello Andrew,

Nice idea this dio.
Am I mistaken or is there a female russiun soldier walking towards the schwimmwagen,
are the germans too busy eating to notice her?
Perhaps you should checkout the setup of the horsewagons on the hill; looks difficult for the guys with the horses to park them there in the way they are now.......

Looking forward to your next update

I agree with Frank, good solid composition and tons of promise.
You have undertaken a great project with lots of tecniques.
One thing I would do while you build your next one. Ask "how did this get here?", "why is this guy standing/sitting here?", Do these make sence?
