The 'Official' page is here: http://www.tamiyausa.com/product/item.php?product-id=35300

Here's images from last week's Shizuoka Hobby Show:

One thing that I didn't particularly like, was this this line from their 'blurb':

Quoted Text

The number of parts required for the assembly of the gun turret, hull, and the complicated suspension has been minimized for ease of assembly.

Now, the other companies (DML, Trumpeter, Bronco etc.) have 'embraced' the enthusiast's market. Tamiya still seem to be going for the 'Mass-Market', fine, if its an accurate kit, but they still seem to be reluctant to understand the success OTHERS are having in the 'Hard-Core' sector...

I saw this and had similar thoughts.

However, if you look at the spruce shots posted in the earlier story here on armorama, it actually looks like it has more parts than the original Matilda at least!

Still looking forward to this one.

No, don't get me wrong - this one I welcome with open arms! It's just when I see 'simplified assembly' a discreet little alarm bell starts ringing

Even 'simplified' the suspension still looks a lot more complex than the 70s rendering. And will be about as visible afterwards. Then Tamiya have always gone for the 'kerbside' approach and it works with the home market.....

I see that Tamiya is enclosing a photo sheet with the kit that features Jacques Littlefield's Matilda Mk IV. They must have taken those pics during their visit to his place last fall.

Interesting pics from the show, but page13, what is it & who's kitting it out?

The answer to the first part of the question is that it's one of these:

The Type 73 (on page 13) is a FUTURE release from Pit-Road.
