Oh happy days, finally some NWE plastic crew figures. Brillient news.

Just like their Desert Crew these are very welcome. I like the poses and the crew mounting, sitting on the vehicle.

Some nice relaxed poses there -- MiniArt do seem to get some great character into their figures.

Cheers,

About bl**dy time, what a great looking set !!
With the various Shermans, Stuarts, Cromwell/Centaur, Challenger and other vehicle kits available, you have to wonder why it took so long for someone to do a set of British/Commonwealth for NW Europe ??
Good one MiniArt !!
Cheers Jim

Right now that the excitement had died down a bit, some thoughts.

Not sure about the right armd on the sitting commander in the cupola. Looks OK in the pic but I would have thought his free arm would be steadying him in the turret.

I like the crewnman climbing up to the drivers hatch. He is modeled on a large hatched Sherman, will his had extend to grasp a small hatch?

The standing tanker in the leather jerkin looks quite imposing, I would like to see an additional arm maybe holding a pair of binos, or one hand cupped to his mouth shouting.

It's good to see a mix of denims and BD. Really great to see these come along. Hoepfully the wounded soldiers aren't too far behind

Is it me or are they wear a holster that was not used in NW europe in 44-45. Which is a pity.
It seem that no one seem to check these thing before they produce a kit

Good point the long thigh strap was phased out in 41/42 and replaced by the shortend version hung on the belt. This in turn was superceeded by the standard holster by the time they landed in Normandy.

I dare say there are exceptions but most tankers would have been wearing the standard bullet pouch and hoster combination by then I would think.

Hey Al,
I wonder if maybe he's designed to sit in a hatch of a Cromwell or Churchill
Will have to wait and see if he'll fit !
Still a great set, really looking forward to this one !!!
Cheers

Hi John,

Can't say, the angle of the arm just looks wrong if he's meant to be in a moving vehicle.

Have to wait and see what comes out. It's a good point about the holsters though, they need a mix lol, lol.

I think you''l find the holsters had been used by polish tank crews.

Page 80 ,Road to Berlin by George Forty has got the top image of a polish tank crew member wearing that holster.Entering Pommeroy.

Great to see miniart bring out 5 figures with good scale detail.

I'm up for this one .

Cheers

I've had a response from the company. Unfortunately, it's a little late as the masters and moulds are done - so they WON'T be able to make the correction. The good news is that the correction WILL be a simple one - just cover over the leg strap and position the (seperate) holster below the belt...

No complaints from me here!

Just what we commonwealth modellers have wanted for so long!

Thank you miniart!

Not bothered about the holsters, its an easy fix, and I can imagine officers holding on to their original equipment and being a bit sentimental. The reason these holsters were changed though is apparently they had a habit of catching on hatches and the like when escaping - far from ideal.

The poses are a little relaxed for my tastes, but no doubt i'll be using them for conversions anyway!

Hi Guys,

Yes, a minor fix, I am sure they can correct it for the next lot !!

This will be the first set of British plastic tankers for how long? Very welcome.

Never say never
