Instead of buying the celluclay does anyone make there own? just rip newspaper into somewhat small peices, add some water and blend it all together. Let the water pour out using a screen and then squeeze the rest out. After you lay it on the surface put some white glue ontop of it. It works good if you have a lot of area to cover. but the celluclay does dry smoother.

I did this on the diorama iam working on now. It taks some time, but it works pretty good. Just be careful not to break the blender

If you bring a mixture of flour and water to the boil, you will make paste. You can add this to your blended paper and have a really close substitute for celluclay.

I use shredded old newspaper or toilet paper ( new one of course) then massage them in a bowl containing 50% of PVA glue and 50% of water. It works but sometimes not so smooth compare to plaster. But it rugged surface give good effect for rocky terrain. :-)

If you have access to old newspapers then shred them in very small slices and let them soak overnight in water. The day after add some PVA (white) glue to the paper and mix it with a mixer (the one used in the kitchen) and mix to get the desired consistency and you will get something like a paste. If too thick then add another bit of water and then mix it again. Remember to clean the mixer as soon as you finish mixing, otherwise the female to which you stole it can kill you!!!
