A short project, born out of the following.
I always wanted to try water, always wanted to build this tank, and since it was either DMLs 1/144 for $4 or the conversion set for $60, I opted for the DML one -which made me adventorous enough to experiment... and finally, I visited the Container Store, where I found this nice case. The ice is made of my credit card, because Chase cranked up my 6.9% APR to 16%, thus forcing me to cancel the account. At least the card was good for something.
This is the result.
I know there's several problems with the setup, but this was the only way to convey the scene of the ice breaking up under a tank. I was "fortunate" enough to see an actual vehicle disappear under ice (everybody got out of the water), so I know how little time it takes from the first cracks (which are not very dramatic, unless you happen to be standing on the ice) to a scene like this
(About 2 seconds.)
So though the scene is not exactly realistic (unless the tank is built of styrofoam), the point was to make it as dramatic as possible. The tank probably could have been portrayed half-sunk, though, but this was only the first try. I have another little tank-hunter, so I'll give it a go with a collapsed bridge next time. (And I have two more credit card accounts where they are raising the APR on, so maybe the next winter scene will be in 1/35.)

Mission accomplished. It's dramatic and it's a subject you wanted to build.
Nice little project.

Great little scene. I think you have achieved the effect nicely.

I'll try to make a closeup, but my present camera's macro is somewhat limited, and the kit is 1/144... I'l get around it in the evening, ok?
