Hello there, this is segment 5 completed, a little of everything, aircraft probably the best late WW1 aircraft around, even a small lake, the British on the move, if possible, may I have both good and bad comments.
due to aching eyes, some flash has been removed from the figures, and some have not, the little pond/lake is made from something called solid water which is a clear resin, there are a mix bag of figures in this British segment.

Al
I admire your tenacity with this project, and I would love to kow how you make the paint stick to those 1/72 figures (which I assume are the soft "plastic" type)
The old Brisfit doesn't look too bad either. You may want to consider removing the propellor and replacing it with a clear styrene disc with a few blurry marks on it to give the impression of a spinning prop. There will probably be something over in Aeroscale on how to do that.
By the time you get all 8 pieces together how big is this going to be?

errrr um Brian Kucks there will actually be 10 segments to complete this diorama, the whole idea (and never seen this done before) each segment is its own complete diorama, and while complete will be able to add to another diorama thus encreasing the overall size of the completed dio, yeah I know its a pain explaining, you should try building it LOL as I have never done anything like this before and gone completely blind, so right from the outset I've decided not to abey the rules and do a 100% blood and mud trench, I want a bit of everything, I thought long and hard about transparent circle for the props, then again, with the shutter speed of the camera it would have frozen the view anyway, many thanks for your reply, segment 1,2,3,6 and 7 are almost finished, 4 and 5 are the only 2 completed, there was a couple more, but then, as you do, I began to change them, I'll get there.

painting the 1-72 figures, I can't be bothered to correctly wash them to remove oil and fat from human fingers, I normally make a decision what overall colour I want and simply paint the whole lot one colour (remember other people do whatever they do, this system works for me though) for the German's I just mixed varied colours until I got what looked right the same for the British, when dry I use my 3/0 and 000 brush and deliberately pick out the largest parts of the figure to be painted, nornally the rucksack on their back, I paint one, throw that to one side, and carry on until I either run out of figures or get bored, then brake out my colours and 000 number brush (very fine point) and simply paint the little bits and pieces, and 'once' they are 'dry' give them a coat of matt varnish this does 2 things, 1, it will seal in the paint, and 2, slightly change the overall colour of the finished figures. I hope this has helped a little. At the moment while I'm waiting for things to dry, raining again here in the U.K summer after all, I am also working on my Jap diorama in 1-700 which isn't going to well at the moment.
