Hi Jim,
Thanks for the review. I have this set on order and it's nice to see the SMLE looks pretty good. The water bottles seem to be an improvement on past efforts but I see they are still using the box type shapeless ammo pouches which are hopeless.
That said, it's a good action set of figures and the extra heads will be fun.

It'd be wrong NOT to acknowledge the assistance of Ron Volstad, who gave me some thoughts on the background to the design of this set.
Significantly, the contemporary photos that were used in the designs DO NOT show the entrenching tool pouch OR the Spike bayonet being used. So, my (initial) comments in the Review were edited to reflect that.
What it is, as far as is possible, is a set which reflects a PARTICULAR moment in History rather than the GENERIC set which we're all accustomed to. That DOESN'T mean that it's limited to one particular Theater or Campaign (with additions according to ones tastes) it means that this was the intention of the designer to actually do something specific to Monte Cassino.
It will be a highly-useful set and an incredibly useful basis for modeling Commonwealth figures right up to the end of WWII.
Personally, it should be seen as the kind of set to buy by the case-load - thereby encouraging DML to bring out more sets like this!
