Sometimes you just have to switch off all reason, trow away the reference books, walk past your favorite section in the modelshop, and pick something that simply sits on top of the pile (no, the fact that it was in the 50% off bin is irrelevant.. ) A Sherman, in 1/72 , with PE ? He, for £5 I was going to have a go.

It is the DML kit, and I was presently surprised. Went together just like that, added a few PE light guards and grab handles and such, made the nice little PE hedgerow cutter, and painted it with Vallejo Olive Drab. And whilst you are at it, you might as well put it on a small base. Took about a week, all said and done. Great fun and good to get the juices going again.
Now the LHS has a Tiger I with moulded zimmerit for £5 ... He knows my weak spot you see...

Sometimes these little 72er snacks are very recommended as they really let you relax and get a fast and good result without many distress...

I too have interrupted my current build projects and started an intermezzo of an M2 Bradley (around 10 Euro) by DML in 1:72.

Your Sherman looks very good embedded in a very vital and well partitioned vignette (kind of vegetation, different height levels as well as some few but effective details).

Very well done, Henk, especially at such a small scale. The Sherman looks just like the few color wartime pics I've seen.

I agree. Actually finishing a model is always very satisfying, especially in the middle of a long, complex project. Add a name plate and maybe a figure, and could this be a feature?

Henk? A Sherman and in 1/72? Double surprise.

Looks good as does the setting.
maybe if I built in this scale I might get something finished

Thanks James, yes it is some of the stuff I had left over from the treemendus tree, just quickly put together as a hedge... To be honest, I'm not 100% on the tree stump myself, but knowing myself I'll probably tinker a bit more with that, in due course. I'm still toying with the idea of another hedge on this side, but it might overpower the Sherman..

Cheers Sam, this is the first time I have used Vallejo's OD, as I like Tamiya better, but I'm rather pleased with the result.

Thanks Pat, I must say that I really enjoyed my little 'sidestep'. It is only my second Sherman (third if you include the Firefly), so I have no idea if it is accurate, or if this type was even fitted with a hedgerow cutter...

Hey this is a great little project, i like it! Good idea to do a quickie for once.

This made me think if that was an idea for a campaign: "Fast Food" time limited to, say, 6 weeks?

Cheers

Not sure if it would carry a full campaign, but certainly an 'informal' group build. Maybe even with a little prize at the end. Lets me see what I can rustle up...

Well I didn't mean to say you'd have to "rustle something up", I was just wondering if anyone thought it was a viable idea... Oh, just noticed you're on the staff... Guess I got to the right address by chance...

Cheers!
