I just got my Eduard stencils from squadron.com and have a question:
In the Waffen Inignia there are two different skull and crossbones for the Totenkopf - on one the skull is slightly larger. Does anyone know the difference between the two?
TIA...Kevin

Hi mate,
Had a look into it and the only difference i found was that some where from a few months earlier(The toothless one). I reckon they were just too damn lazy for the little details! Just bought the stencils myself and am dreading using them! They look fragile!
Good Luck

Yes, they look very fragile. I ordered a bunch of others at the same time, but they're flexible - I guess they're vinyl. It won't be fun trying to mask around it since they're so small. Do you know of any good pictures on the web of AFV's in Totenkopf markings?
Thanks...Kevin

I purchased Eduards stencils recently and I was very disappointed. I am just going to stay with my templates from Verlinden. They make a good range of stencils, and are of very high quality. :-)

Hi Kevin.
I like stencils myself, but i also can recommend Archer Dry Transfers.
For the reason being, that they are fully and correctly referenced, and
each package has the dates for when the insignia and tactical vehicle
markings were used, and where they should be placed.
What exactly are you using the stencil for ?
I might be able to help you out as far as their placement, because
I read up on a lot of Totenkopf history.

Ralph,
I read a bit about the dry transfers and will probably order some for numbers and letters.I like the idea of re-use for the stencils so that's why I purchased them. I had a hard time finding the Verlinden's so I went with the Eduards.
For Totenkopf I wanted to do a Tiger I in Totenkopf markings. I ordered the Tamiya Tiger I (with the Henschel turret (I think) and wanted to do one from Kursk. I also ordered a T34 and have the Russian star stencils, but I don't know where to begin with that one. Any tips would be most appreciated! Are there good web sites anywhere?
TIA...Kevin

Hi again Kev !
There is one thing Iabsolutely don't do and that is Russian models, so
I can't help you there.
But as for Totenkopf - In order to confuse Soviet intelligence leading up to the
Battle of Kursk , The SS divisions used temporary tactical markings on
their armored vehicles, instead of their regular vehicle marking & insignia.
Totenkopf divisional symbol for Kursk was three vertical bar's - III on
the "vertical armor plate" of the Tiger I ( Left hand corner if you are looking at
the tank from the front ) ( right corner if your driving it ).
Hope this helps. Let me know if you need anything else.
