While this has given me one huge headache, in the same breath its also given me a lot of fun in building it, I have never seen a segmented dio before, neither something this large for a WW1 diorama, being a beginner it was basically a case of going in totally blind, what's this diorama about ? Well, it has a small lake, cannon, 7 sets of different figures, aircraft, a goblin (what ?) yes a goblin, trenches, tanks, buildings, hills, barbwire, each segment is a completed diorama by itself and simply by adding another dio to the first thus encreasing the overall size of the dio, this is now finally completed, and as always, if possible, I would like both good and bad comments.
diorama finished 023
diorama finished 003
diorama finished 017
diorama finished 005
diorama finished 002
And finally does anyone feel brave enough to tell me what I can actually do with this diroama now its finished (just kidding) honestly though, this is far to big for me to keep as this is 24 inches(610) x 30 inches (765) each segment is 12 inches (305) x 6 inches (152) any ideas please let me know.

You say you have never seen a segmented diorama.
If you want to see one, take a look at Claude Joachim work on Clervaux village.

You're not joking this guy is utterly awesome ( Clervaux village ) and this is what I call a real model/diorama builder, although I haven't seen everything done, I am wondering what and where this super large dio will end up, in my view, far to important to keep to yourself, so I can only imagine a musem has taken it on, thank you for the info Alexandre.

Al,

I admire your ambition in taking on such a huge project, especially as a beginner.

And much more than that, I admire you sticking with it right to the end and getting it finished. That alone gets my respect, because guys often appear on forums full of big (sometimes grandiose) ideas, announcing they're going to do this and that, and that we should keep checking back to see progress etc. etc. - only for the project to then quickly fizzle out along with (presumably) their interest.

The planes you've got flying over the battlefield look great, by the way. Despite the rods holding them up (hard to see a way round that though).

And as Alex says, Claude is indeed the Master Dioramaist Supreme round these 'ere parts. I've seen his Clervaux Castle "live", and it's even more impressive than it looks on a PC screen and in the modelling press. I just hope that one day I get the chance to see the whole Clervaux project in its entirety (village and castle together). When I spoke to him, he did mention to me that he was trying to find a permanent home for it, but I don't know the latest on that (Claude, over to you my friend if you're reading this ...).

Anyway Al, thanks for sharing your own work.

it's great to finally see some pics of the whole thing. you've obviously put a lot of work into this. i spent ages doing a 'where's Wally' for the goblin but i couldn't find him. were you serious about that? where is it?

great work!

seg 8 002
seg 8 003
He has been here all the time, its either seg 7 or 8 and I wondered when someone would spot him, no one did, then again, why would anyone be looking for a Goblin in a WW1 dio ?
