Possibly a really stupid question, but can anyone tell me if Stuart “Honeys” from the famed desert rat unit ever appeared in the desert pink and olive green camouflage scheme?

Thanks,
Noah

Not positive, but I don't think so.

The earliest Stuarts were in Caunter, but there weren't many of them in that scheme. Pretty much all the rest I've seen are in Light Stone or Light Stone & a dark disruptive, probably green, like the Crusaders.

Of course, in a B&W photos you can't tell if the "light Stone" isn't "Desert Pink", but I've never seen a reference to the pink on a Stuart.

I think there may have been some OP Honey's in this scheme - I have a vague memory of an RNZA in one of the Plowman books on Kiwi armour....

In Armor Camouflage & Markings of the 2nd New Zealand Division by Jeffrey Plowman, there is a Stuart identified as Dark Olive Green over Desert Pink on page 26. A color profile of this vehicle appears on page 43. This tank also appears on Bison decal sheet 35058, New Zealand AFVs in Greece and Africa. The tank belongs to A Troop, 25 Battery, 4th Field Regiment, 2nd New Zealand Division. I have no idea if this unit was associated with the desert rats, but if one Stuart was pink there were probably more.
