Hello all ... I was in Canberra last week and took a few snaps of a Centurion Mk5/1 outside the Australian War Memorial.
The tank is a Vietnam vet, but was re-built upon its return. It had been configured to look like a tank in Vietnam (no skirt armour or smoke projectors), but those tanks "in country" ended up with a multitude of mods.
Anyway, these pics may be handiy for those contemplating an AFV Club Cent build:
Note the remain of the welds where spare track hangers used to be positioned:
Note how the exhaust is swept slightly upward:
There was a multitude of variation in the turret basket - this one has a recess to allow the mounting of the cable reel:
The tabs from where the smoke dischargers were mounted. Note the turret cast texture:
Supplementary armour on the glacis - the welds are quite subtle:
Spare wheels on the glacis ... pictures from the Vietnam era show that on some vehicles the one in front of the driver was mounted lower, requiring the other to be mounted higher:
Shell ejection port:
Infantry telephone/first aid box:

AFV Club must have used this tank as reference when they designed their kit 35100. The box art looks exactly like your first pic. Very nice pics and thanks for sharing them.
