The turret is the same color as the hummer, its just the shade under the "forest" aka bush in my front yard. This is my first model doing blackwashing to so it was all practice for me.

I just tried pastels for the first time and I was happy with the results.
Make sure you apply some type of Flat clear coat to the model first. I used earthtone pastels. Make sure they are NOT oil based. I put the ground pastels on sufaces I wanted to appear dirty. Then I added a little Turpenoid to moisten it. Also, shave some pencil lead and dip your finger in it. rub the lead on areas like the lug nuts and edges of any metalic surfaces you want to look worn. Like tow hooks, door frames and hinges etc. Just take it easy do a little at a time and be careful not to over do it. When your finished apply another flat clear coat.
