Very nice!
I really like the way you captured the look of the original.
I have two questions:
- How did you recreate the data on the metal plates?
- Where did you get the M240 with plastic barrel protector?
Thanks!

Thanks for the kind words guys! Really appreciate your interest in my work.
To answer a few questions.
The M240B is a HobbyFan resin item, its included in their modern equipment set.
The kit Tamiya M1025 converted with Verlinden M998 conversion and scratch built details (see previous thread)
The plate markings where painstakingly hand painted. Basically I put 2 strips of masking tape on the plate with a gap in between where I wanted the lettering. I then got a very fine brush with a tiny bit of white paint in the tip and created the markings by painting tiny dots to make up the letter. It takes ages and requires constant cleaning and thinning of the paint but is the easiest way of going about it. Personally I just dont think a decal would cut it for this kind of thing.

Thanks Charles, I only learn from a master such as yourself though! Yep, please feel free to add it to your site. I hope to start work on an ASK humvee soon that might have an odd gun mount in the back....

hey rob you just reminded me to get back to my ASK humvee, the whole thing got smashed by my cat A.K.A cattus-felinus-battus-the-modelus-aroundus. so i put it away for some time and remembered it just now by your post.

Great finish- that's a cool model - don't listen to those blind judges. That was my inspiration to try a modern subject. Congrats!

This is really a great build. The paint job and the details are so real. This is an enjoyment to see the finshed model - same applies to the WIP thread.

For what it's worth: top marks from me!
Was the gun pedestal scratch built or from a kit/set?
Cheers,
Sean

BTW, where did you get hold of the Hobby Fan US accessories? From the UK or elsewhere?

Thanks for all the positive comments guys!
To answer a few more questions-The gun pedestal and mount is scratch built from plasti card and scrap from the spares box.
And the Hobby Fan equipment set was sourced from Taiwan from someone I know, but you can find it on lucky model (with free shipping) much cheaper than any UK seller and is a set well worth getting!!

Very nice model. Somewhat disturbing though. I still can't believe that we sent troops into harms way in a POS like that. How many kids never made it home due to lack of decent equipment? Sad.....

i was thinking of the same thing, my fathers friends was in OIF 2 , and he died by a rpg round penetrating the humvee. but still 1/35 scale humvees dont need any protection at all do they?

Very cool. I am impressed the lettering was done by hand. Like the coke can in the dash, nice touch.

Well done build and paint job. The weathering is looking absolute realistic. Most I like the stenceling on the armor plates.
Congratulations and thanks for sharing.
