Hi everyone,

when it gets really hot in summer, I often prefer building "cold themes" .
This one is based on Academy´s "Battle of the Bulge" infantry, a surprisingly good kit for the value. So I wanted to show a group of lost german infantrmen in the end of the Bulge battle, strolling around in a white landscape. Note the gear thrown away in the ground ...
Figures, as mentioned, are Academy out of the box, display is white styrofoarm covered by plaster and snow from railroad stuff "Noch" ... Building time was four days.

I hope You like the little refreshment.

Very well composed Ralf. They really do look lost...and confused. Nice job. Did you use oils for the uniforms?
Question: I can't see in the photo what's behind the guy's feet, I'm looking for footprints in the snow. Are they there?

Ola Ralf

I really like the first picture dude nice scene in that angle. The figures turned out really great and a nice vignette in only four days well that`s just great. The broken tree trunk is very good too. Is that something you found in the garden ???

Anyway great job you have something to be proud of

Ralf

Very nice. Everything looks very good. Soldiers look bewildered and cold. Only four days... man I wish I could make my stuff look that good in four months. Great job.

Cheers

Nice piece Ralf. I have to say that a little snow in Milan's hotness (40°ç+) is quite helful too!!!
What did you use for the snow?

Hi everyone,

well indeed, there will be an Africa Dio this winter ... I adde two more photos: One, where You can see the footprints of the guys, and another made by photoshop.

Snow:
There is some great railroad stuff for that. I used powder (comes sparkling!) by NOCH. You´ll find it in Your local hobby market in the HO-railroad section.

Tree: The best stuff is made by mother nature herself. I just painted it dark grey-brown, washing, drybrushing, et voilá ...

Ralph,
To do a vignette like this in four days... phew ! Dazzling work.
The figures are painted really good. I like the snow on the bottom of their greatcoats. The snow looks a bit cream colored, but that can be due to photography. Splendid work !

Steve,

it´s supposed to be thrown away gear from an unknown german soldier, partially covered by snow ...

Superb! the light dusting of snow on the long coats is the perfect touch to blend everything together... wonderful job on the figure painting as well, and the photography with the background image makes it a perfect 10 in my book!
