Ranger74 emailed me a slew of images for the M939 5-ton truck. 80+ images in all.

I think Armorama may well be able to claim the "crown" for best reference images for modern US AFVs and especially heavy trucks.

Thanks Ranger! Click here for images.

Cheers,
Jim

I am in the process of adding comments to the photos.

SABOT - If I mislabeled any of the 5-tons, please let me know. I asked the AMSA Foremen to make sure I had the correct model numbers for each one

I am not an expert on soft skins by any stretch of the imagination. I will take a gander though.

In similar news, I have a NET (New Equipment Training) Team coming here this month to field the M915A3 tractor (5 ton with 5th wheel, ABS), supposedly gonna leave me one too. I will try to get some time to get photos of this truck too.

Hi,
Very & usefull pictures.
But names of the trucks are not right:
- the truck tractor with 5th weehl is a M931A2(without winch) & M932A2 with winch
- the dump truck is a M929(wo/w) & M930 w/w
- the wrecker is a M 936 A1 or A2
sources : BMY documentation.
Regards.

pascalbaussett - Thanks for the info. I got the tractor right, but missed on the dump truck. The AMSA foreman tried to tell me from memory. I will correct the narratives.

SABOT - one of 81st RSC QM battalions up in Kentucky has already received some M915A3 tractors and the battalion commander is pleased :-)
