Hi
I have an idea that I keep toying with for a large diorama.
I need to know what US or Brit transporter was used out in the Pacific during the early stages of WW2.
I want to model the scene from the film " They Were Expendable" were the PT boat is loaded onto the back of a transporter & taken away by the Army.
Any help would be great.

Hi Buddy,
if memory serves me correctly the transporter used was a Diamond T tractor hauling a Rogers trailer, dont take this as gospel but i think it would have been the only one available.
As to who actually makes one,the only one i know of is the old Matchbox (now Revell) 1/76th scale kit, perhaps Accurate Armour makes one and if they do,it`ll cost an arm and a leg.Having said that a guy at a local model club actually scatch-built one !!.
Hope This Helps.

Dizzy T's several options,
Fonderie Miniature FM35003 Dizzy T 980/981 & FM35004 M9 Trailer
I bought this at a hobby show, about half the price of the Real Models kit, well it looks right, but instructions are really badly copied, & learn french!
Real Models Diamond T980/981 (M20) with Rogers Trailer
€225.00 Model: RM 35085
Scale Model Accessories's Diamond-T Tank Transporter (Dec 96 info but I don't know any more about it)

I'm not familiar with the movie, could you post a pic or url of the scene?
I'm finding hard to imagine a 80' PT boat on a Rogers trailer, as I have seen photos of a 59'5" LCM 3 on the rig & it looks overwhelming.
This idea might be more easily achievable in 1/72-1/76th scale, with several Revell PT boats & a Matchbox M19 Diamond T & Rogers Trailer.
Good luck

Hi
Have managed to find a pic. This is the best shot you see in the film.
Dosn't look as if the trailer is attached to the tractor unit. Looks like they have been pushed 3/4 way down the boat & then fixed to the hull. No clear pic's of this.
I think this is a Autocar U-8144Tor U-7144T & NOT a Diamond T.
