I ran into a small problem while working on my diorama. I know after you put the paper mache down ontop of the foam you drill a hole in the base, and stick the grass in after its taped/glued together. But I wasnt able to do that for the hole diorama. I used the screen and paper method because it is a fairly large diorama. And when I go to put the hold in the mache around it falls apart. anyone know how I can put the grass in without this problem happening?

thanks,
Mike

Mike, I don't quite follow what your dilemma is as I am not familiar with the screen and paper technique. Nevertheless, if you do not want to or cannot drill holes in your diorama there is another way you can apply the grass. The way I sometimes do is is this:

1. Using tweezers grab a generous amount of grass
2. Make sure that one end of the grass I am holding with tweezers is somewhat tightly packed (strands are grouped closely)
3. Cut one end of the grass bunch with scissors to make it nice and level
4. Dip that leveled end in white glue
5. Place the grass in desired spot holding it for a short while to let the glue set a bit.

Keeping first few bunches upright can be difficult but the subsequent ones are easier as they can can lean on their neighbors.

I hope this makes sense to you.

Possibly 5 minute epoxy if you want something thicker.
What kind of grass are you using?

The screen and paper method is stapelin screen to your base on 3 of the 4 sides. Then in the open side stuf in newspaper to give it the desired height. That should work. Put the glue/5 minute epox, and hold it. but it is going to take a lot of time, but so will the other way. its about a 4ft. by 4ft. dio give or take. what will cut down the ammount of tall grass is Agent Orage, i'll make half the grass dead.

Not sure of the name of the grass that I'am using. Comes in a medium sized pack with Green, Tan, and Dark green. Got it a while ago

thanks,
Mike
