Hello friends,

I had this "Kein Weg Zurück !" diorama...but I was no longer satisfied with it.

The Maus tank still pleases me, and the figures are up to my own standards, so I removed them from the diorama base and started a rescue plan.

I used a wooden frame to build up the base of it. I want to create a muddy field, some puddles...

G. (The "Wilkommen !" dio is not on hold, I battle on !).

This is the Maus I will give another battle ground.

I'll rework some details on the tank too.

Cheers. G.

Jafo : tx !

I started to paint the wet field. A couple of puddles were created in the plaster surface and were filled with Revell gloss, mixed with a bit of raw ocre oil paint.

The mixture :

Layer after layer I filled the puddles :

There's still a lot to do :

Hopefully this starts to look like a muddy base :

For some reasons it seems that I missed the beginning of it.
What are you planning to redo on the base?
a bit of hardwork?
or a more swamp look?
I think the ground a bit flat at the moment, but you've managed to do some great damp texture.
Maybe, for more variety, you could add more natural and mineral 'junk' in your mud.
I mean : herbs, rotten ferns...this kind of stuff.

I really looking forward your work on this, but you know that my friend.

Cheers.

Hey Alexandre, no problem my friend, I am very occupied these days and I'm sure I miss a lot of good stuff here on big A.
The former diorama depicted a small street with an old house, I wasn't satisfied with the pebblestones of the street and it kept irritating me until now . So this is a completely new setting for my Maus.

I added grass but this will be colored later, I only used this because it has the structure and length I was looking for.

The infantrymen were glued on too, but these little Fritzies need a bit of a touch up, so they aren't done yet.

this looks great! What scale is it? Could we please have some close ups of the figures?

SCOTT

P.S. Red primer barrel - accuracy police are on the way!

The figures are just sooo dynamics.
I like it.
It's also great to see "late war" panzergrenadieren wearing regular feldbluse...Instead of the usual SS/WH camo.
With the work on earth, I've got now the feeling of the damp and rainy field.
Cheers.
Alex.
Keep posting, this is a very interesting subject.

Scott, thanks for your reaction. I'm glad you like it. It's a 1/72 diorama with Dragon's Maus and Preiser figures. I'll post close ups of the figures when completely finished, ok ?

Red primer barrel : I know, it's supposed to be a grey one, but I painted it red for two reasons :
- it was a better match whith the other colors on it,
- may be the grey barrel primer was no longer available, so the ordinary red primer was used.

Alexandre, I keep posting mate just until it's done !

The grass was painted in oil colors to cover the artificial look of it. Next thing to do is the mud again.

The close up are stunning, this field turns swamp!!!
Do you plan another kampfgruppe then, or will you rework the figures you've got?

Hey Alexandre, no other kampfgruppe, the figures are positioned back into place now the grasses look the way I like.

I reworked the Maus and gave it a bit more weathering :

I've tried to create rough grasses, with different length and colors :

This topic comes to an end with a last photo to go.

Mud was added (pigments Europe Dust + Dry Mud + Dark Mud + plaster + acrylic resin) and to make it look a bit wet I brushed on gloss varnish.

It was fun to make another, more suitable diorama.

Cheers Guy.

This was a great topic to follow Guy.
That's always great to see people rework their old projects.
I can say that your "swampy" field is really pleasant!
Great dynamism in this work. Hope this time, this finished diorama will let you sleep.

Congrats!
