I was kicking around in cyberspace and noticed these new releases from SkiF. They include an Egyptian T54 with newer IR upgrade similiar to those on the Leo 1s and a T55 haluer/driver trainer in Czech markings. Has anyone seen these kits - are they the same old BS - like kit #200 etc... ?

Thanks
Chris

Don't know if they are old kits for sure, but there is no way Skif re-tooled their exiting molds, probably just tossed some basic resin bits into the box. There is no way they supersede Tamiya's kit either Skif announced T-84 and Tunguska M1 kits some time ago (even had artwork ready), whatever happened to those?

Yeah - right George, I do remeber them announcing the T-84 what 2 - 3 years ago. I would even be surprised if they put the resin bits in. I have seen the OT-55 and its pretty horrid. I love the Tamiya kit and in fact I'm working on an SLA Tiran 5 and a T-55 model 1958 now side by side. I have bought 7 of the Tam T55s. I really wish that Dragon would tackle the T54/55 - I even got excited when I saw the M51 Premium box art with the T54 in the background hoping it was a clue of things to come.

I have confirmation from 2 sources that SKIF DID tool up the T-84, but they do not want to release it as they think they will loose more money. Besides, I do not even know what the status of the company is anymore.

Most likely these 2 "new" kits are exactly as discussed: the old T-55 with a few resin bits. Not worth the money anyhow.
