Using the 1960’s African conflicts and the film ‘The Wild Geese’ as inspiration, this project hopes to create 1/72 scale mercenary miniatures that best typify the post WWII mercenaries from both the historical and film worlds.
All minis sculpted by A. Boustead

A quick up-date, here's what's been submitted so far guys;
se :-]
1.SIMBA officer, cap, cammo tunic, boots, holster, gesturing with right arm, his gut hanging over his belt, a fat guy! FN rifles, 37 webbing and 57 Denison smock
2. SIMBA NCO, cap cammo tunic, boots, running with uzi in right hand, left hand pointing, head facing forward, 37 webbing and 57 Denison smock
3. SIMBA running, Uzi over right shoulder, same uniform as NCO, shouting face, right arm 'waving' machete! 37 webbing and 57 pattern Denison smock
4. SIMBA standing and firing Uzi, same uniform as above, machete hanging on left side of belt, 37 webbing and 57 Denison smock
5. SIMBA walking, same uniform as above, FN rifles, 37 webbing and 57 Denison smock
6. Richard Burtons character from film wild geese.
7. Mad Mike Hoare
8. From the movie "Dark of the Sun", The Rod Taylor figure (Curry), The figure firing a Sterling from the hip, as in the movie poster, but the legs should be closer together, shoulder width apart, left leg slightly forward. I’d prefer the figure to be bare headed. Use the same type of uniform as in the poster/photos to include the high lace up boots. First couple of buttons of the shirt open.
9. The Jim Brown figure (Rufo) from the same film is wearing an “Aussie” type hat with turned up brim on one side, also firing a Sterling from the hip, feet shoulder width apart, same type of uniform as in the photos.
10. SIMBA firing an FAL from the shoulder, wearing 37 webbing and 57 Denison smocks, and Portuguese hat.
11. SIMBA - Portuguese Cap, 57 Denison smock and 37 equipment, perhaps a holstered pistol. Walking with FN FAL Heavy Barrel held at the porte position (opposite to whichever the gut walking with the rifle is?)
12. SIMBA - Beret, 57 Denison smock and 37 equipment, running leaning forward with FAL held close to body. One leg straight with foot on ground the other bent in running pose.
13. Selous scout leader - head turned calling instructions as left hand picture above. Wearing – Rhodesian cap pushed back as in right hand picture (back flap folded up per pictures above). Four pocket combat jacket with nothing underneath it
Standard combat trousers bloused into standard boots.
1958 webbing equipment belts with chest rig, two water bottles, no ammo pouches or kidney pack but with 1944 pattern back pack with radio in it the hand set for the radio should be attached to the left hand webbing strap (like the Selous Scout figure already done) Weapon is an SLR rifle.
14. Selous MAG gunner - Crouching advance as above Wearing –
Rhodesian style cap (back flap folded up) One piece suit over standard boots
1958 style webbing as picture above but with single standard ammo pouch worn on right, 2 water bottles, central kidney pouch and a small back pack – 1944 webbing style. One ammo belt around neck. Armed with a MAG GPMG with a belt of ammo looped over gun. MAG should be on a strap per picture above.
15. Selous rifleman Crouched as above Wearing – Bandana/headband made of cammo scrim netting Shirt with sleeves torn short (see picture under chest rig above) and worn tucked into trousers Standard combat trousers over standard boots
1958 style webbing belts with chest rig, 2 water bottles and one kidney pouch worn centrally at rear. Armed with SLR.
16. Selous rifleman - Running forward rifle at porte as above Wearing -
Bareheaded Shirt with sleeves rolled up and worn un-tucked Standard combat trousers bloused into standard boots 1958 style webbing with chest rig, 2 water bottles and single kidney pouch worn towards left hand side. Armed with SLR.
A few more additions:
