Hi guys,

At the moment I'm in the process of making the M-9 ACE from HobbyFan.
Has anyone ever made this resin kit ?
At what height should the suspension be fixed on the undercarriage ?
It I glue them too high the track will have too much slack and on the other hand, if it is too low the track wiil not fit ( resin tracks= cannot be altered )

Hope someone has a suggestion !!!!

Cheers,

Hello,
I have never built the model (won it on ebay, never recieved...long story) but I did serve on one for three years while stationed in Germany. Maybe I can help with some of the technical questions.
The suspension consists of four articulating arms. The number one and two articulate up/forward and three and four up/rear. to dig (or fill the bowl with balast) the front two articulate up and to lift the rear two articulate. The vehicle is able to tilt also (one side arms go up, other side slightly down).
So, the suspension can be placed in a variety of ways depending on what action you desire to model.
Also when the vehicle is stationary (but running) it sits high and with tight track tension. When not running air is let out and the hydraulic fluid is released allowing the vehicle to slightly settle.
Hope that helps.
Jeff

Hi Jeff,

Thanks for your explanation of the system.
I've got all the suspension-arms fixed to the model and by god, it's level !!!!!!
Tonight I'm gonna fix the wheels and then the track !!
Sure hope the track will fit !!!
If not, I've gotta hide it by weathering and some mud/dirt !!

Hi,
I built....itr was near impossible.
Take care on dry-fit. The parts fits not really, and You have to find out in 3-4 steps before what You have to modify.
The parts are very nice, even nice casted...the problerm is in the master and in the shrinking of the resin.
But once built it is a nice and impressive model...even if it is not for beginners.
