It seems that almost all US vehicles now carry a coil or two of concertina wire on them: Humvees, Bradleys, M113A3's etc., so modeling one without it seems inappropriate.

Can you suggest the best way to replicate such wire coil? Maybe some photoethed set?

Pawel

There is a Article in the Features section that details how to make modern Concentina Wire.

Here is the link.

I hope this helps some.

Enjoy

I've used the outer winding from guitar strings. Carefully separate the brass outer winding from the steel inner wire. It has just enough character to imply concertina wire when detailed and weathered.

A lot of times, the wire is left in the spiral wound paper/burlap that they are shipped in. (It covers the barbs, and makes the roll of wire easier to handle.) This might be a way to dummy up a roll or three of concertina, without having to fuss with trying to make it.

PART photoetch set (should be able to find through JADAR models site) is pretty good. I'll check the product number later on this evening. More to scale and easier to use than Verlindens Razor wire (which really works on your fingers!).

Cheers,

Hmmm, I think I'll try the method described on this site.
What great timing for this discussion as I was just looking at this stuff on an AAV7 last night...

Thanks to everyone who responded to may post!

Yes, I also like the method described in the article, just wasn't able to find sutable window screening mesh yet. In Polish climate these things are not very popular...

Pawel
