Hi
I was wondering if anybody has built the Zvevda 1/35th scale Cossack Set.
If so, any comments on the kit...
Thank you
Regards
Garth

I have built this kit. It's what you would expect from Zvezda. A little light and soft on detail. They are not too bad, however - you could switch the heads I suppose - maybe even take he heads and some parts from the DML Cossack set? the thing I like about the Zvezda kit are the dynamic poses. I slightly modified mine to be axis Cossacks. I will try to post pics if I can - they are still unpainted.

Garth, I have these and liked them so much I am looking for a 3rd set to complete my dio. They are a bit soft in detail but will work out fine. One thing I did was to add a beard on some figures and a monocule ( don't know if I spelled that right). Another thing you can do to change them up is to frankinstien the horses. I cut along the saddle and sinch strap ( under the belly) cutting the left or right side half, and changing the pose of the horses slightly. I now have horses charging out of the woods and leaping over stuff. A lot more dramatic for a charge then what they give you. There are 8 of them on a 6 1/2 inch 6 sided base and want 2 more on the base. Gives it that coming at you look.

Hi Bob
Thanks for those excellent tips. The kit arrived today along with a few others and I do agree that the detail certainly needs some work. I had a similar idea in mind as yours. I fancied the 4 cossacks bursting through some low bushes, surprinsing a relatively non-chalant German machine gun team! Your diorama sounds great, would love to see it!
Incidentally, I also got the Miniart Russian Infantry Set (Summer). They are really well posed and moulded. Lots of great figures here for some great dioramas.
Thanks again for your help!
