I am planning to build each of the U.S. tank destroyers. Kind of an evolution of them. I have an M-10 and M-18. Planning to get the Academy M-36 when it comes out. Also getting the Tamiya M-21 halftrack and Mechanized Warriors conversion to 75mm GMC. And the Dodge WC 51 Weapons Carrier 'Beep' from Skybow. Now I'm trying to locate the 37mm gun for the weapons carrier. Also any other suggestions are welcome.
TIA

Don't forget the Testors/Italeri M36B1 Jackson, an M-36 turret on an M4A3 chassis. If you're lucky, you can find the Testors/Italeri Anti-Tank Dodge and use the 37mm gun and mount from that old kit. There is also a Jeep and 37mm towed anti-tank gun made by Monogram (Jeep was reissued by Revell of Germany with a deuce and a half).

Me too M1Garand! I bet Kencelot probably shares your idea as well. The old Italeri AT Dodge kit is on the shelves (in very small numbers) out here where I live. That's a good place to get your gun. The Eduard brass detail for this kit is really, really, rare, but that would come in handy too.

BC--if I were to do it all over again, the M-21 is a fine kit. I mounted the CMD 75mm conversion to her. It was tough. The instructions were poor to terrible. I finally found an armored interior website that had the shots of the gun and the traversing mechanism. Do your homework before you build it. Saves untold hours of wondering "what is that and where does it go." I can look around for the 37mm Weapons Carrier. If I have it, do you have something to swap. I am looking for Shermans and in particular the mine roller systems.

I'm going to the hobby shop after work. Hopefully they'll have that Italeri AT Dodge kit. I know they have the Italeri M-36 kit.

I found and picked up the Italeri Anti-Tank Dodge at the local hobby shop. Only one they had.

Once again, get the Hunnicutt book on US Halftracks, plenty of info. I did the GMC halftrack with the 105 without many references and got it pretty close.

M1 - you need one more setup. A 57mm AT-gun (US version of the British 6-pounder) towed by a Skybow 1-1/2 ton truck. This was the standard weapon of the regimental AT companies in the US infantry divisions. Either Tamiya or Italeri made a 57mm AT Gun, but I believe it is now OOP.

For those that wanna do an M36B1 using the Italeri kit,you need to cut out the turret floor and add a full interior to it

Yes, when it debuted around 1989-90, the turret was much better than the ancient Tamiya M36 turret, but the lack of interior and enclosed turret basket didn't endear the kit to many armor builders.

Haaaa...way ahead of you guys. I've been collecting all the kits since I started back into building.
The only kits I'm missing is the Italeri M36B1 which is being reissued and due in July, Academy's M36 which is due in June, and that lousey, impossible to find old Testor's M1 57mm Anti Tank Gun.
M1, when you get ready to build that M21 with the Warriors 75mm conversion kit, here's a site that'll help you along. It's a great build from John Prigent. Been saving this one for awhile. Shhhhh...

Hi,
There is an old AIRFIX kit of the Dodge with the AT gun mounted on it.
Probably is not available anywhere; who knows ?

m1,
If you want, I can give you a Italeri #323 US 57mm/GB 6pdr kit. Found it in with a Testors 2 1/2T along with a Italeri M-101 105mm. I have the 105 box in the Testors box but not the 57mm box, go figure.
Is that enough to taunt Kencelot? Gotta help the locals first.
Dave
P.S. Is this bad? Somewhere I have a M6 37mm AT gun carriage and a 1 1/2T truck both by Peerless. Need to get some newer kits!!!!

210Cav - I believe the US made some minor changes, one being the breech. Not sure exactly. I think there is a 57mm AT gun at the Infantry Museum at Ft. Benning.

m1,
No problem, just let me know when and where.
The flag...... Can't find a avatar I really like, still need to upload a signature block and it was easier to do a flag for now and I thought about 'musical flags' to represent other nations equally here. OK, so I had a Korea flashback at 3AM and the quote from 2057s MiG-15 gun sight, "Pour out and zero in this vindictive ammunition to the damn Yankees" poped into my head and it struck a mood. My mood ring must have been black!!
I'll work on getting 'stateside' ASAP.

Dave, are you interested in the trade I pm'ed you about? We could meet at American Eagles sometime.
